During the Master of Animation (St. Joost) I got to direct a bumper for Playgrounds' 20th anniversary. It was used as an introduction before artist talks and other events.
Character Design, Concept Art, 2D-Animation: Jacorien Treur, Vanesa Milen, Maura Keulen
2D-Animation: Ăˆric Zwatrzko i Pou
Motion Graphics: Jente van der Veen
These pictures served as the main inspiration for this project. The main goal was to give a short peek into a world consisting entirely of wooden toys. During a sacred ritual, one of the toys is given life by means of a crank, hereby animating it.
The following styleframe I made, served as a reference for look and feel.
After this, I made a storyboard and figured out the overall composition of our fist shot with Maura.
Then we started coming up with characters to fill our scenes with.
Jacorien Treur
Vanesa Milen
Pit Lempens
I made the final background by shading over a 3D elements in Procreate. I rendered every pillar seperately so I could achieve the parallax effect seen in the final shot.
